The whole tree chambers are a state-of-the-art facility where mature trees can be investigated.

 

The fine control of temperature and humidity conditions allow for climate change experiments, in which the total tree fluxes are also measured.

 

Thus you don’t only get the leaf level response, you can see how the whole tree copes with the environmental conditions.

I have participated in several whole tree chamber experiments exposing fast-growing Eucalyptus trees to climate change conditions such as drought, elevated CO₂ and/or warming,
